In connection with the 29th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide, one of the bloodiest pages in the history of mankind, commemorative ceremonies were held in all regions of the country, as well as in the settlements where Khojaly people were temporarily settled. The commemoration ceremony was attended by the head of the Khojaly District Executive Power Shahmar Usubov, the head of the Goranboy District Executive Power Maharram Guliyev, other leaders and the public of Khojaly district. Monuments to the Khojaly genocide erected in the Yeni Yashayish massif built in the Goranboy region, in the Ashagi Agjakend settlement of the Goranboy region, in a 600-family settlement built in the Ganja city were visited. Carnations were lined up in front of the monuments. Prayers were said for the victims of the genocide.
On the night of February 25-26, 1992, Armenian armed forces with the participation of the 366th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the Soviet Army stationed in Khankendi destroyed the city of Khojaly. As a result of the next massacre committed by the Armenian aggressors against the Azerbaijani people, 613 people died, including 106 women, 63 children and 70 elderly people. 1,275 civilians were taken prisoner, and the fate of 150 is still unknown. As a result of this act of genocide, 8 families were completely destroyed, 25 children lost both parents, and 132 children lost one of their parents.
Celebrating the Victory Day with joy, the people of Khojaly first came to the monument to the Khojaly genocide erected in the settlements where they temporarily settled. However, this time they hurried not only to commemorate the victims of the genocide, but also to bring the good news of victory to the souls of our martyrs. We knew that the Khojaly wound would subside when we returned to our native lands, and then the souls of our martyrs would be happy.
After the meeting of the national leader Heydar Aliyev with a group of Khojaly residents on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of the Khojaly genocide, almost all Khojaly people were killed. By supporting them, he increased his confidence in a hopeful future. With the determination of President Ilham Aliyev, a worthy successor of national leader Heydar Aliyev, we have won a great victory over the enemy in the Patriotic War. The souls of our martyrs found peace. The executioners of the Khojaly genocide were also destroyed in our 44-day war of rights. The people of Khojaly fought with dignity against the hated neighbors, and with their militancy and attachment to the land, they turned a blind eye to the enemy. Both during the April battles and in the Second Karabakh War, the brave sons of Khojaly fought valiantly. In the Great Patriotic War, eight of our soldiers were martyred, and thirteen of our soldiers were named veterans. Our brave sons, who voluntarily took part in the battles, rushed forward for the territorial integrity of our lands and to avenge our martyrs.
The memory of the victims of the Khojaly genocide will never be forgotten, their memory will always live in our hearts.
May God have mercy on all our martyrs!
